Sunflower seeds: Crop estimates and price hikes

SOFIA. In the Bulgarian growing areas for sunflower seeds, the young plants benefit from abundant rainfall. However, local farmers feared that there would be too much rain. However, there have been no reports of crop damage so far.

Good demand reduces availability
As the price development of recent weeks shows, the demand for Bulgarian sunflower seeds from Bulgaria and abroad is high. Black sunflower seeds, in shell, 96% purity, climbed this week to a level of 335 EUR/mt CPT Varna. Hulled sunflower seeds, bakery are available from 595 EUR/mt FCA Bulgaria. And over the summer months further price increases can be expected.
