Sunflower seeds: Further delays in sowing

SOFIA. The Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture reported that, as expected, Bulgarian farmers have not yet managed to make up for the sowing delays. Progress lags far behind last year.

 

Sowing completed on 710,000 ha
Bulgarian is set to face hot temperatures and regional showers, as well as summer thunderstorms. With sufficient rain, this year's crop may produce average yields. With 710,000 ha acreage is a lot lower than last year.  

Bulgarian traders are maintaining their prices for prompt deliveries at a level of 655 EUR/mt DDP Germany. Many traders are preparing for the end of the season and are primarily focusing on their existing long-term contracts. Prices for the new crop are at 650 EUR/mt DDP Germany and Bulgarian
