Sunflower Seeds: Farmers concerned over decline in yields

SOFIA/KIEW. Harvesting is in full swing in Bulgaria. Yields are still falling short of expectations, caused by the lack of rain in August.

Production to be similar in size to 2018

Reports state that the lack of rain and record high temeperatures have reduced yields in Bulgaria. Since acreage has increased production is nevertheless expected to be similar in size as last year. Black in shells are trading lower again in Varna at EUR 281- 283 per metric tonne CPT Varna. New crop shipments have not been registered here yet. New crop bakery kernels are trading for EUR 0.55 per kg FCA Bulgaria.
