Sunflower seeds: new June estimates

SOFIA/BRUSSELS. WASDE estimates are untouched for sunflower seeds. Contrary to this, Coceral has revised the EU production estimate. Traders report good crop development in Bulgaria. EU imports are down.

Untouched WASDE estimates

In the WASDE report for June the USDA has left the global production estimate for sunflower seeds untouched at 56.191 million mt. This year's production will thereby range 8% higher than last year. While the production estimate over 10 million mt is roughly in line with projections issued by the European Commission and Coceral, the 14.4 million figure for Ukraine is more optimistic than the estimate of 11.5 million mt issued by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
