Sunflower Seeds: Offers for new crop become cheaper

SOFIA. Subdued market activities are pushing prices down in Bulgaria. There is, however, one onoted exception as the prices for bakery kernels continue to climb.

Subdued market 
Around 1.53 million mt of sunflower seeds have been processed this season in Bulgaria, a further 730,000 mt were exported. At the end of June, stocks were estimated at 198,000 mt. These stocks are already in the hands of the processors and exporters. The limited supply has subdued trading activities. Although black in shells, 96% purity are officially quoted at 314 EUR/mt CPT Varna, no products are available in the free market anymore. Harvesting will only start in six to seven weeks.
