Romania records bumper crop

Romania is the largest sunflower seed producer in the EU and has hit an absolute record of 2.8-3.0 million mt in this season. Demand is high in any case. As UkrAgroConsult has reported, the country exported a total of 1.8 million mt of in 2017/18 driven by an increase in demand in Turkey. Romania required imports from Moldova to meet enquiries.

Raw seeds are becoming increasingly expensive

At 1.9-2.0 million mt, Bulgaria recorded a good production. The figure is, however, not above average.
