Sunflower seeds: Promising production slows down willingness to buy

SOFIA/KIEV. Heavy rains have damaged property in the north of Bulgaria. Fortunately, the sunflower fields appear to have been spared. In addition, the forecasted warm and sunny weather should provide ideal conditions for harvesting.

 

Subdued demand creates pressure

Trading activities are very much subdued. Black new crop in shells,  with a 96% purity are trading for EUR 0.29 per kg CPT Varna. Depending on quality and supplier, hulled bakery kernels from the new crop range between EUR 0.63 and 0.64  per kg DDP Germany with further downward pressure. Many buyers are still on holiday and defer buying since the production prospects are hgihly encouraging.
