SOFIA/KIEV. Official production estimates have now been issued for Bulgaria. Although they range in line with expectations, market players are growing increasingly concerned. Traders have, in addition, noted a considerable shift in prices.

Updated production estimates

The Ministry of Agriculture currently estimates production at 1.7 million metric tonnes. Although acreage has risen by 2.4%, yields have declined by 10.5%. As last season’s carry-over stocks only range at 60,000 metric tonnes and Bulgaria has so far only imported 1.57 million metric tonnes this year, market players are growing increasingly concerned over supplies. Traders reckon that the production estimates will be updated later in the season.
