Walnuts: Production to exceed expectations

SACRAMENTO/KIEV. Global production estimates for 2018/19 have risen significantly since the INC published its estimates in May.

 

Record crop in the USA

Global 2018/19 in shell production was initially estimated at 1.95 million mt. Production estimates have now, however, been revised upwards to 2.1 million mt. The crops in the USA (626,000 mt) and the Ukraine (120,000 mt) are reckoned to be better than previously expected. At the same time, April frosts are said to have caused losses in China, although production estimates here differ greatly between 750,000 mt and 830,000 mt.
