Almonds: May estimates revised

SACRAMENTO/CANBERRA. The US Department of Agriculture's Natural Agricultural Statistics Service released the updated forecast for the 2023 US almond crop on Wednesday. Despite adverse conditions in the spring, the crop forecast was revised upwards.

Almonds defy the weather

After three years of drought, California almond growers faced somewhat different conditions this year. unusually cool temperatures into early summer - combined with record rainfall and sometimes high winds - affected bee flight during the pollination period and delayed fruit development.
