Almonds: flowering gives rise to encouraging prospects

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. As flowering is progressing well in California's almond orchards the outlook for this year's production is highly encouraging. Recently issued import data is, meanwhile, showing different trends in Germany.

No bumper crop expected

California's almond trees are in full bloom, but development in the individual orchards varies considerably. Judging by the state of the buds a record production similar in size to last year is highly unlikely. Growers are, nevertheless, reckoning with a good crop. The weather will prove decisive for pollination over the next few weeks.
