CANBERRA. Australia's almond exports cannot keep pace with the record season of 2024/2025, but exports are still satisfactory. Experts predict the second-best result since records began.

Australian exports at 4-year low

After the record season of 2024/2025, Australia's almond exports are declining slightly again. However, with 12,924 mt (-13.4% compared to the previous year), suppliers still achieved the second-best export result for October 2025. Domestic deliveries were still in the upper mid-range at 2,500 mt. A total of 15,424 mt of shelled and unshelled almonds were shipped domestically and overseas last October, a decline of 13.2% compared to the same month last year. Shipments to China and Vietnam increased, while domestic shipments and exports to many other buyer countries declined, including India, Germany and Turkey.

A total of 120,810 mt of Australian almonds, both shelled and unshelled, have been shipped domestically and overseas since the start of this season, which is 6.0% less than at this time last year. Domestic demand fell by 4.3% to 16,717 mt and exports by as much as 6.2% to 104,093 mt, the lowest export result for this period since the 2022/2023 season. At 54,189 mt, almost 44% of Australian almond exports go to China, followed by India (11.6%), Vietnam (5.4%), Turkey (5.2%) and Germany (2.4%).

Crop results significantly lower than last year

Experts at the Almond Board of Australia remain confident that, despite the smaller crop, sales this season will still achieve the second-best result since records began – to do so, a total of just 11,000 mt would need to be shipped domestically and overseas in the remaining four months of the 2025/2026 season (November to February). However, last year's record result of almost 170,000 mt will not be achieved for a long time.

Last November, the Almond Board of Australia finalised its estimate for the 2025 almond crop at 155,697 mt, compared to 163,148 mt in the previous year.
