Almonds: Spain's crop to increase by 95%

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Spain's almond exports continue to decline compared to last year. However, good crop forecasts for the coming 2023/2024 season could turn the tide. The US market is also expecting growing demand for the new season.

Good prospects

Due to the warm and dry weather in recent weeks, market experts forecast Spain's almond harvest to start about two weeks earlier than usual. The Mesa Nacional de Frutos Secos estimates this year's production at over 120,000 mt of shelled almonds, which would not only be almost 50% higher than the average crop of the past three years, but would even be a whopping 95% higher than last year (2022: 61,863 mt).
