MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Growing demand and good crops have ensured almond deliveries from Spain to constantly increase in recent years.

In 2017 only 68,000 metric tonnes of almonds (customs tariff number 08021290: Fresh or dried almonds, shelled [excl. bitter]) were exported from Spain to other EU countries, in 2019 it was already 82,000 metric tonnes according to the data of the European Commission. The main buyers were Germany, France and Italy. At the same time almond imports from third countries to Spain decreased from 90,000-95,000 metric tonnes to 82,600 metric tonnes.

US almonds cheaper again

The almond market is bobbing along. Reports about possible crop losses have so far failed to appear, which is also reflected in prices. Spanish almonds are maintaining the level of last week, while the offers for US almonds in the European spot market have even become cheaper. Both whole almonds and preparations are EUR 0.10-0.20 per kg below last week's prices.
