Prices of sales on green fluctuate around these of harvest 2016-17. A very strong export season left scanty quantities on the domestic market.

Rapeseed: prices follow an expected nominal trend

SOFIA. Currently, rapeseed is traded for 0.362 EUR/kg CPT domestic port. Since the beginning of January 2017, the price has moved within the range of 0.362 EUR/kg - 0.368 EUR/kg CPT domestic port. With the new harvest a few months away, the price is not expected to fall down drastically, even more so since usage of biofuels is expected to rise.

A strong year behind, higher exports

Domestic consumption is small while the majority of rapeseed is exported. The highest exports (457,266mt) go to countries of the European Union while minor quantities (33,505mt) to the rest of the world. Harvest 2016-17 was higher than that of the previous year, which stood at about 422,000mt, while this year’s yield was stronger than the average yield from the previous year, which stood at 2,480kg/ha.
