Cashews: shifting trade dynamics

NEW DELHI/HANOI. Local elections are still having an impact on trade for cashews in India. News on the crop is mixed in Cambodia and Vietnam. Exports witnessed curious shifts in Vietnam in March.

Elections slow trading in India

Importers in India mainly purchased raw cashew nuts in Tanzania in January and February. Total imports reached 199,000 mt according to official statistics, of which the country supplied the lion’s share of 182,033 mt, followed by Mozambique (9,168 mt), Guinea Bissau (3,200 mt) and Senegal (1,100 mt) with much smaller shares.
