Cherries: Record crop in Poland

FRANKFURT. Due to significant increases in production, this year’s EU cherry crop is predicted to be 30% higher than last year.

 

More than 60,000 mt in Germany
Although the hot and dry summer this year has been very bad for field crops such as grains, it has been excellent for the development of tree fruits like cherries. All in all, the cherry crop in the EU is expected to reach 793,000 mt, an increase of 30% when compared to last year.

At 260,000 mt, the cherry growers in Poland are expected to see a record crop this year. Mild winter temperatures prevented frost damage, and with the temperatures in April being above average, the foundations were laid for a rapid develo
