Slight price declines

The Indian chickpea market saw a moderate price decline of USD 10/mt compared to last week. Market players cite falling demand in the growing states as the main reason for this. However, dwindling stocks and global political tensions could soon cause prices to rise again. Kabuli chickpeas from Maharashtra, in particular, had initially gained significantly last month, leading to notable profit-taking, which in turn resulted in a price correction.
