NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. In India, the differences in quality are high this year, depending on the growing region. Expensive fuel prices are also taking their toll here, while the situation in Canada and the USA is easing.

Location is decisive

As last week, chickpeas in India again recorded a slight price increase. Market players report that the quality of this year's crop varies from state to state; high-quality goods are reported from Maharashtra in particular. As the farmgate prices here are declining slightly, exporters are buying more again. A lot of export goods are also being bought in Madhya Pradesh, while the spot market in the National Capital Territory of Delhi is doing less good business.
