MANILA. Many countries in Europe imported more desiccated coconuts last year. Contrary to this, the global trend showed a decrease.

Coconut oil has dropped below 1,000 USD/mt

Ramadan and the quiet summer months coupled with adequate supplies have pressurized the palm oil market. Coconut oil is following suit and has also lost ground. Prices have now dropped below USD 1,000 and are approaching USD 900. Market players report that the growers are starting to complain about too low prices. It is highly likely that the market will witness a turning point soon.
