TEHRAN. Harvesting is well underway in Iran, especially in Kerman Province, where more accurate production estimates have been issued. Exporting dates has, however, turned quite frustrating in recent months.

Monthly exports 30% down

Although monthly exports declined by around 30% in July, the performance was not that bad. According to official customs statistics Iran shipped 6,499 mt of dates worth USD 4.87 million in July. While this ranges 30% lower in terms of weight and 27% lower in terms of value than the 9,229 mt worth USD 6.66 million exported in June, the annual comparison shows a different picture. July exports, in fact, range 14% higher in terms of weigh and 17% higher in terms of value than the 5,699 mt worth USD 4.17 million exported in July 2021.
