BEIJING. With prices being attractive for sellers, acreages of both black and red kidney beans in China are expected to increase this year. Mung bean sales have improved, while adzuki bean traders are pinning their hopes on the Lunar Festival.

Prices for black kidney beans have risen slightly on the Chinese market in recent weeks. Stronger price increases are being prevented on the one hand by the still rather weak buying interest and on the other hand by an increase in the area under cultivation in the north-east of the country, which should lead to higher yields under good conditions.
