BEIJING. China's 2023/2024 adzuki bean crop may be smaller than last year, yet carry-in supplies should compensate for shortfalls. A similar situation persists for black kidney beans. The prices for red kidney beans are still on the rise.

Decline in sowing for black kidney beans

Black kidney bean quotations rose a bit in China last week, mainly driven by the global decline in planting. Demand is by no means elevated and buyers are cautious not to risk losses. Some still have sufficient warehouse supplies to meet contracts. Apart from the anticpated supply squeeze there is little support in the market and prices are expected to go down in the short run. Black kidney beans with a 95% purity are trading at USD 1,070/mt FOB Dalian.
