Dried figs: early rainfall poses a risk

AYDIN. It is set to remain hot in Aydin over the coming days. Rainfall could pose a risk to dried fig production. Weekly exports are above last year's level.

Drying period set to begin at the end of August

In the Turkish province of Aydin, daytime temperatures this week will, as in recent days, exceed the 40°C mark, whilst night-time temperatures will drop to 23-25 °C. In the higher altitudes, the pollination period is now also over, and both the trees and the figs are developing well.

The official yield estimation surveys for the 2026 dried fig crop will begin on 7 August. The results of the survey will be announced once it has been completed. However, there is already speculation that the crop is likely
