AYDIN. The dried fig harvest is drawing to a close. Favourable weather conditions have ensured good yields. Exporters are announcing prices for the new crop.

High yields

In the growing regions of Aydın, temperatures are expected to drop slightly this week, with daytime highs of just 27-32°C. There will also be three days of rain. Market players are, however, confident that this is unlikely to affect dried fig production significantly, as it is almost complete. Furthermore, the fruit have developed well this year. Among others, Nuri Arslan, Chairman of the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce, reported that yields of the local Sarılop fig have risen by 50% this year thanks to favourable weather conditions and sufficient rain
