Dried figs: focus on the new season

AYDIN. Fig growers are busy with preparations for the pollination period. Dried figs are significantly cheaper than they were last week. The European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed has recorded more than 200 border rejection notices for shipments of dried figs from Turkey this season.

The market for male figs is thriving

The pollination period for fig trees in Turkey runs until the end of June. Meanwhile, male figs are now being sold at the relevant specialist markets in Aydın for a more affordable TRY 400-500/kg, whereas prices last week initially stood at TRY 1,000/kg. In particular, high-quality male figs with a high density of fig wasps are currently in demand.
