NUR-SULTAN. Market players report that the measures in place on the Kazakh-Chinese border have driven up prices to astronomical highs. In addition, the quality of the seeds is anything but convincing.

Prices rise by 30%

Flaxseed prices have risen by a further 3% in Kazakhstan over the last few days, thereby reaching a historic high. Market players report of prices ranging as high as EUR 0.39 per kg EXW Kazakhstan. This represents a sharp price increase of 30% over last year, when prices ranged at EUR 0.29 per kg. Exporters, however, also state that the current prices pose a limit for most traders. Brown flaxseed with a purity of 97% is trading in a range of EUR 0.37-0.38 per kg EXW Kazakhstan.
