Grains and oilseeds: farmers hurry to sell

BRUSSELS. Wheat exports will shift in the next few months. Buyers are urged to pay attention to mycotoxin in French corn. US farmers are desperately trying to sell soybeans and corn. Coceral has issued the first EU production estimate for rapeseed.

Shift in wheat exports

While the exports from Russia and Ukraine will decline in the next few months, competition will be fierce with exports from Australia and Argentina on the rise. According to SovEcon Russia only shipped as little as 900,000 mt of wheat in the first half of January. This marks a 64% decline on last year. Ukraine’s exports also slumped by 63% to 344,000 mt in the same period. Russia’s farm stocks stood at 18.7 million mt on 1 December, which is also down on the 24.8 million mt recorded one year ago.
