ORDU. According to reports, the brown marmorated stink bug has been less active this year. However, Turkish authorities warn that insect damage to the hazelnut crop could still be significant.

Brown marmorated stink bug less active

In Turkey, evaluations for production estimates for the 2025 hazelnut crop are in full swing. Unlike last year, reports of sightings of brown marmorated stink bugs are limited. Fortunately, this is particularly true in the regions that were most affected. Nevertheless, the authorities warn against complacency, as the damage caused by pest infestation could still be significant.

Hazelnut prices are virtually unchanged from last week. Natural hazelnut kernels, 11-13 mm, are currently trading at a level of EUR 8.75-9.00/kg
