Hazelnuts: distracting legal action

ORDU. Ferrero has taken centre stage in Turkey’s local media after the competition watchdog launched a legal investigation on the company’s market position. Hazelnut suppliers are, however, more concerned over the unexpected turn prices have taken.

Ferrero investigation distracts

Turkey’s competition authority found sufficient evidence suggesting that Ferrero is monopolising the market in September and has recently launched a legal investigation. Not only do farmers complain that the market giant pays them only meagre sums but also that the Italian company only works with 13 traders in purchasing hazelnuts.
