Hazelnuts: exports slump by a third

ORDU. The decline of the Turkish lira has brought hazelnut prices down to an attractive level for overseas buyers. Exports, nevertheless, range well below last year.

Consumers to boost demand

The more favourable export prices of recent weeks have encouraged some buyers to make spot purchases. Export volumes by no means, however, match last year's record performance. Turkey has shipped around 58,622 mt of hazelnut kernels overseas since the start of the season. This is a decline of 42% on last year (approx. 97,000 mt) and around 4% less than in 2018/2019.
