ORDU. Turkey’s hazelnut exports have taken a hit as demand is disappointingly low and bargaining with buyers in Europe is extremely difficult. Ferrero has also stirred quite a bit of commotion.

Market manipulations

Ferrero’s market dominance has become a matter of heavy debate in recent years with local producers, traders and exporters stating that they are being unfairly treated and urging authorities to act. Now the market giant stands officially accused of manipulation after some individuals and companies filed a complaint with the Turkish Competition Authority at the end of September. Trouble is that although the world’s famous confectionary producer purchases nearly half of Turkey’s hazelnut crop, the company only deals with 16 trade
