Hazelnuts: price adjustments continue

ORDU. The Turkish hazelnut market is still waiting for market giant Ferrero to announce its purchase prices. Meanwhile, the TMO has adjusted its prices due to the quality losses of the crop caused by pest infestation.

TMO issues more favourable purchase prices

After the forecasts for the Turkish hazelnut crop 2023 were still positive in spring and a production of 810,000 mt was expected, the tide turned with the start of the harvest. Especially in the Middle Black Sea region, where a large part of the hazelnut bushes grow, there were increasing reports of pest infestation by the brown marmorated stink bug and the resulting yield losses. In the meantime, the crop forecast was reduced to 700,000 mt.
