Export prices decline, despite lira gaining in value

The lira gained some momentum with the key interest rate now ranging at 15 percentage points. Analysts had, however, reckoned that the hike in the interest rate would have a stronger impact. Ferrero's withdawal from the inshell market, nevertheless, prompted a decline in export prices at the end of last week. Exporters are taking advantage of this trend to refill stocks at low prices, which they can then sell to Ferrero at higher prices. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) now estimates that global production is set to decline by more than 17% in 2021/2022.
