Hazelnuts: Uncertainty governs market sentiments

ORDU. Two imported rating agencies have already downgraded Turkey. Inflation has risen above 20% and the government is further adding fuel fire, especially with regard to the US. Experts also reckon that the country will be hit by a recession very soon. This uncertain financial and political climate is affecting the hazelnut market.

 

The banks are a lot more cautious in granting credits and the charges for credits in other currencies such as USD or EUR have risen sharply. This development is also reflected in the prices, especially for long-term contracts. Some suppliers are no longer able to offer any contract running later than the first three months of 2019.
