ORDU. Harvesting is still underway for hazelnuts in Turkey. The TMO will have a hard time securing supplies this season. Some buyers are starting to act.

Delays prompt new assessments

While the new crop normally starts to arrive in mid-August, considerable delays are being witnessed this year. As the nuts were slow to fully develop on the trees and natural shedding occurred later the new crop is only now entering the market. Harvesting is still underway. On top of this, the crop has not only been adversely impacted by the frost in spring but also by the hot and dry weather in July. Exporters are currently reckoning with a crop size below 500,000 mt or even 450,000 mt at the most.
