Iran: price movements in 2025

TEHRAN. Prices turned in one direction for most agricultural commodities in Iran in 2025, including for almonds, pistachios and barberries along with dates, dried figs and raisins. Black cumin has, however, taken another turn.

At present, the world is holding its breath over the regime’s violent crackdown on the protests unfolding in Iran since December with people taking to the streets demanding a regime change. While US President Donald Trump mainly has Iran’s oil in mind in threatening to interfere on behalf of the people protesting, it should also be noted that Iran is a valuable agricultural trading partner and that much is at stake for exporters, who are currently confronted with an internet shutdown.
