BRUSSELS/DALIAN. EU imports have declined by a shocking 40%. Enthusiasm for millet is low in China.

40% slump in EU imports

EU imports have only reached 29,855 mt for millet since the marketing year started on 1 July thereby marking a 42% slump on the same period in 2023/2024. Although Ukraine has remained the most important trading partner, imports have declined sharply by 32%. As APK reports sowing is 87% complete here spanning an area of 66,100 ha. Contrary to this, shipments from China are 16% up, whereas India has recorded a 32% decline.
