KYIV/DALIAN. Exporters are not keen to buy millet in China. Ukraine has seen a slow start to the harvest. EU imports are on par with last year.

Little buying enthusiasm in China

Although supplies are adequate in the Chifeng area, there is a shortage of high-quality millet, which is making making procurements for exporters more difficult. A shortage of marketable supplies also prevails in the main producing areas. Due to high temperatures demand is slack. Sales may be slow, but surplus supplies are limited in some areas and farmers are reluctant to sell at low prices. This is supporting the market. Expectation is that prices will remain firm.
