DALIAN. Germany has increased its millet imports by around 14% in May 2023, but the seasonal deficit cannot be wiped out. Meanwhile, millet prices are stagnating in China.

Stalemate in the market

The Chinese millet market is in a stalemate. Buyers were looking for lower prices, but growers do not want to accept this for the time being. For this reason, offers have remained at a largely fixed level for several weeks. Hulled millet is still at USD 1,250/mt FOB Dalian, and exporters are still asking USD 1,320/mt FOB for organic millet.
