Millet: traders reluctant to lower prices

DALIAN. On the Chinese millet market, traders and growers are currently holding back on offers. Domestic demand is expected to ease. Global millet production in 2025/26 is forecast to be 3% higher than the previous year’s figure.

Prices are rising

Prices are increasing in the Chinese millet market. Exporters report that there is less millet available on the market than at this time in the previous two years. Traders who still hold stocks purchased at relatively high prices are currently unwilling to sell their goods at lower prices. This tactic is simultaneously encouraging growers to hold onto their stocks, resulting in higher raw material prices in certain growing regions.
