Over production on onion

At this point the onions prices are the lowest but how did this happen?

It starts when the prices of onion in the year 2014-15 reached a new height due to a lack of supply to meet the demand. As the profits were huge it attracted the farmers to shift to onion from other crops and coupled with good weather conditions – a bumper crop of onion was produced. Which led to a fall in the prices and the prices have remained low since the bumper production.

A protest was started as and when a farmer went to different markets to convince them to stop the supply to onions and let the market forces work. Soon as the news was spreading the media came in picture and Mumbai and Pune went on strike on the first two day of June. With young farmers reaching to social media to spread awareness about the cause and continue to the strike and put forward their demand.
