Philippines, the biggest importers of rice. Last week a decision was announced by the National Food Authority of Vietnam to call of bids to supply 250’000 tons of 25% broken rice.

The deadline to submit the bid is 25th July, 10:00 am.

The supply of rice by the winning bidder shall be delivered in the month of August and September.

Vietnam is expected to spend around 5.6 million Philippines peso (USD 110’464.59) to buy the volume of rice under government – to – private.

Thailand being the biggest competitor for Vietnam, maybe be sideline this time as the current stock with them is only 160’000 tons. And Thai rice prices are higher compared to Vietnam’s rice price.

The stock of rice in Philippines have been  very low in the last 3 years and are barely enough to meet the demand.
