Pistachios: US crop larger than expected

SACRAMENTO. US pistachio exports picked up noticeably in the first month of the new season. This primarily reflects availability, as the 2023 crop is said to have been significantly larger than expected.

US exports up by 25%

After a weak start to the 2023/24 export season, the export volume of pistachios from the USA increased noticeably in October. A total of 54,581 mt of US pistachios with and without shells were shipped domestically and overseas in the second month of the new season, an increase of 41% compared to the same month last year. Domestic shipments totalled 9,651 mt, an increase of 13%, while exports rose by almost 50% to 44,929 mt.
