Pistachios: frost puts a dent on production

ISTANBUL. Frost will put a dent on Turkey’s pistachios crop in 2025/2026. Expectation is that the market will turn. China will prove decisive for exports.

Lower crop anticipated

While Turkey has witnessed a bumper crop of 415,500 mt this season, production will take a different turn in 2025/2026. Not only will the country be entering on off-year in terms of production with the INC anticipating 143,000 mt, which marks an overwhelming 66% downturn on the current season, but the frost event witnessed in April has also caused quite a bit of damage. Current estimates state that yields will decline by up to 15%.
