Pine nuts: supplies have been used up

PEKING. Pine nut factories started working again in China last week. Some processors have now, however, exhausted their raw nut supplies. Fresh supplies are being sought for.

Shipments have been stopped

Pine nut traders in China, who depend on raw nut shipments from Russia, are gradually running out of supplies. As some traders report, Concerns over Covid-19 have prompted suppliers in Russia to stop shipments to China. No offers are currently available. The Russian government closed its direct border with China on 31st January and restricted the cross-border movement of Chinese nationals via Mongolia. All passenger transports for Chinese citizens have been suspended since 20th February.
