MALATYA. The apricot market is currently very quiet and market players expect this situation to continue until at least mid-May. However, exporters do not expect demand to increase significantly then, either.

Little activity in summer

As the coming Monday (12.4) marks the start of Ramadan, there is relatively little activity in the apricot market. Exporters are hardly registering any new contracts and are instead completing their existing orders, and market players expect the market to remain this quiet until at least mid-May. Even after that, demand is likely to be limited as the season slowly draws to a close - the new crop should be available in the third to fourth week of August.
