PEKING. Although prices vary greatly depending on supplier, the pumpkin seed prices are following a clear trend in China.

Many things are uncertain

The corona pandemic renders it diffult to anticipate further market developments. This is also holds true for the pumpkin seed market in China. Several exporters report that spot purchases and release orders were more frequent in February, whereas demand has largely subsided now.

Nevertheless, the exporters are not exactly keen on selling. Concerns are high that containers will not be accepted in the ports or that buyers will simply no longer be able to pay once the seeds have arrived at their premises. Hardly any offers are to be had and sales are nearly only possible with advance payments. With prices ranging at USD 3,300-3,590 per metric tonne CFR Hamburg for Shine Skin kernels, grade AA, there is a wide variety in price depending on supplier. Prices are, nevertheless, declining. The first traders have gone down in price and there is room for negotiation where expensive offers are concerned.
