NEW DELHI. Rainfall has often led to lower yields in India. Growers could now draw the appropriate consequences. India's sesame seed exports increased by 13.9% in 2024.

Lower sowing in rainy times

Indian market players are expecting a few slack months. Demand from the domestic and international markets remains moderate, which is likely to put pressure on prices. There have already been slight downward corrections this week, in addition to an adjustment in freight prices. Hulled sesame seeds, 99.98% purity, are currently being offered at export prices of USD 1,955/mt CIF Hamburg.
