Sesame seeds: new crops increase price pressure

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD. Good crops in countries such as Pakistan are putting pressure on the Indian market. Thanks to successful tenders, South Korea is the most important buyer of sesame seeds from India.

Little resistance

As expected, prices on the Indian sesame seed market remain moderate despite the successful tender participation. Furthermore, there is a lack of price-determining impulses from both the export and domestic markets and market players expect prices to remain within a narrow range over the next two to three months. Hulled sesame seeds, 99.98% purity are currently offered at a level of USD 2,340/mt CFR Hamburg, which corresponds to a slight decline compared to last week.
